as it presents itself to Quarta Repubblica – Il Tempo

The image of General Roberto Vannacci with his face obscured by the words “ignore him!” launched by the Democratic Party has turned against its own creators. The independent candidate of the League for the European elections, in fact, is using it as an effective means of communication, so much so that on Monday 29 April he presented himself in connection with Quarta Repubblica, Nicola Porro’s program on Rete4, complete with a t-shirt with the image of the party post by Elly Schlein. In short, the Democratic Party is campaigning in Vannacci. In the interview, the general was asked to clarify the sentences of the last few days that sparked the controversy. “The first definition of a statesman is a statesman, therefore Mussolini is a statesman. The Treccani encyclopedia says so”, said the candidate for the European elections.

Regarding the students he reiterated: “Freedom of demonstration is sacrosanct but if the demonstrators do not respect the rules and public order they put themselves in a position to arouse the reaction of the police. And this seems to me to be a banal obviousness. If the demonstrators If they respected the rules, the use of shields and truncheons would not be necessary.” But what has caused discussion in recent days has been above all a passage from the general’s interview with La Stampa interpreted by many as the proposal to create differentiated classes for the disabled. “Disabled people must be given all the help they need, I never said that there must be differentiated classes”, said Vannacci who complains of having been misrepresented.
