Green almost rosanero, Soleri one step away from returning and Mateju reborn at Spezia: what crosses with Palermo

Spezia-Palermo on Wednesday Daniele Verde he could have lived it with the rosanero shirt. At the height of the January transfer window, Spezia’s number 99 had been strongly courted by the Sicilians, so sure of being able to conclude the negotiation with the Via Melara club that they booked medical visits for the player, who instead decided not to take the flight to Sicily and indeed, renew his contract with Spezia. They were the intense hours after the derby won against Pisa, decided precisely by two spells from Verde, who in the white team’s moment of greatest difficulty decided to stay and lend a hand to his teammates and Luca D’Angelo in the race for salvation, refusing the big money put on the table by the City Group club.

A few days later the opposite path was taken by Ales Mateju, the Czech defender who was now out of place in Sicily. Criticized by the fans and dropped in the hierarchies of the then coach Corini, Mateju decided to get back into the game with the Ligurian shirt, signing a contract until June, which would tie him to the whites for another season only in the event of salvation. A strong choice that of the twenty-seven year old, immediately rewarded by the starting positions he immediately achieved in the white shirt, with which he also scored a goal, in Bari. A path, the Palermo-Spezia one, which he could also have followed Edoardo Soleri, already in La Spezia five years ago. In the intense January transfer window, the negotiations between Spezia and Palermo also involved the striker born in ’97, who, just like Mateju, saw little of the pitch. An agreement was effectively reached, so much so that medical visits were booked for Spezia, which Soleri, however, never carried out. It’s all the fault of fifteen minutes in a Palermo-Modena match, in which Soleri took over the pitch after having been sold and managed to score a brace that gave the Sicilians the victory. From there the player was taken off the market and Spezia closed a few days later for Diego Falcinelli. Sliding doors, on both sides, for players who will try to be protagonists on May 1st, in a match that is worth a lot to both.
