A memorable day, the one experienced by the young rugby players from Termoli, of the Iovine Star Rugby Termoli, on Sunday 28 April in L’Aquila on the occasion of the “L’Aquila celebrates rugby” event organized by Pol. L’Aquila Rugby, to remember 30 years since the 1994 championship victory against President Berlusconi’s Milan rugby.

“It was important for us to be present at this great event” these are the words of President Giovanni Pellilli, “an important event for the Abruzzo rugby movement, the conclusion of an event whose L’Aquila remembered an epic feat accomplished 30 years ago . L’Aquila is certainly one of the rugby capitals of central Italy, a city where rugby can be breathed in the air. I want to congratulate Pol. L’Aquila Rugby and its director Gino Troiani, for the splendid event organized and the opportunity given to us to give our children and families a unique experience. We had the opportunity to meet champions from the past, such as Wim Visser, Rob Louw and Danie Gerber, the latter present in the world rugby hall of fame. After our stars’ matches, we had the opportunity to attend the L’Aquila Rugby – Rugby Roma match. For everyone it was the first time they had attended a Rugby match and they were all pleasantly happy with the atmosphere in a full stadium. The icing on the cake was missing, which would have been the victory of L’Aquila which would have been mathematically promoted to Serie A, a day early and would have truly made all the people of L’Aquila explode with joy.

We are now anxiously awaiting May 25th, the day on which there will be our first party organized in Termoli, at the Cannarsa stadium. It will definitely be a day to remember.”
