PISTOIA – Filcams CGIL of Pistoia and Prato denounces the serious situation of the school catering contract in the municipality of San Marcello-Piteglio, which has been entrusted to the SLEM company since the beginning of this school year.
Contract workers – he writes Laura Sardelli of the Filcams Cgil Pistoia Secretariat – found themselves in a situation of great difficulty, delays in salary payments, non-payment of additional working hours and increased workloads. The situation has now become unsustainable.
In fact, after several attempts to communicate with the company, the last one in the presence of the Municipality in which the contracting company made specific commitments, those commitments have all been disregarded: to date, in fact, the workers have not received payment of their March salaries, the checks on the salary differences highlighted by the comparison of the pay slips of the previous months were not carried out and furthermore the company unilaterally communicated the reduction of the hourly parameters to some workers.
All these behaviors implemented by the company – underlines Sardelli – are unacceptable, we therefore also ask the client, the Municipality of San Marcello Piteglio, to take action towards the contracting company so that the service can be carried out efficiently for the users and in compliance of the rights of the workers who work there.
For these reasons, a state of unrest was proclaimed and on April 29th the workers went on strike, still allowing users to use the service albeit with some delays.
If the situation regarding the contract does not see a radical change – concludes the union’s note – we will implement further claims actions.
