VELLETRI (ROME) (ITALPRESS) – The new train+bus connection of the Regional Trenitalia in collaboration with the Schiaffini Travel company to reach the prison from Velletri station was presented today.
The project, which promotes the interconnection between the different transport vectors – railway service and local public service – was presented this morning in the Velletri station in the presence of Fabrizio Ghera, Councilor for Mobility, Transport, Territorial Protection, Waste Cycle , State Property and Heritage of the Lazio Region, Ascanio Cascella, Mayor of Velletri, Stefano Anastasia, Guarantor of people subjected to measures restricting personal freedom for the Lazio Region, Giovanni Russo, Head of the Penitentiary Administration Department and Fausto del Rosso, Regional Director of Trenitalia Lazio.
The collaboration between Trenitalia, the lead company of the Passenger Hub of the FS Italiane Group, and Schiaffini Travel, as has been underlined, satisfies the mobility needs not only of the workers of the Velletri prison but also of the families of prisoners. The agreement provides for the harmonization of timetables between trains and buses and the possibility for customers to purchase the ticket in a single solution through the Trenitalia purchase channels, choosing “Casa Circondariale Velletri” as their arrival or departure destination.
“The Trenitalia regional effort continues to increase intermodality in the Lazio region. This new connection will offer an additional service for the area and will help make the investments we have made for the benefit of travelers tangible. We have planned over 900 million euros of investments in the region aimed at mobility, with the main objective of purchasing latest generation, more efficient and sustainable trains”, declared Maria Annunziata Giaconia, Trenitalia Regional Business and Intermodal Development Director.
There are 15 bus connections on weekdays from Monday to Saturday (7 from Velletri station towards the prison and 8 in the opposite direction). The stopping point of the Velletri station is in the square in front while the stopping point of the prison is at the Provincial Road Cisterna-Campoleone 97.
