The Privacy Tour, the national initiative to raise awareness on the value of personal data and the responsible use of technologies, launched by the Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data and inaugurated in the city of the Strait on 11 and 12 April, returns to Messina.

“Freedom of information between right of reporting and respect for confidentiality” is the theme at the center of the conference scheduled for Friday 3 May from 9.30 in the main hall of the University of Messina. The meeting, which celebrates the International Day of Freedom of Information, is promoted for the fifth edition by the University and the Sud Publishing Company Gazzetta del Sud Giornale di Sicilia, with the patronage of the Alumnime association of former students of the university and aims to highlight in particular the regulatory frameworks within which the exercise of the right to freedom of the press takes place, in conjunction with the other rights recognized by the legal system.

The conference is part of the Privacy Tour, the initiative to raise awareness on the value of personal data and the conscious use of technology promoted by the Guarantor Authority, to which Ses with its president Lino Morgante joined among the first signatories last year month of September, then organizing the inaugural event in Messina in recent days in synergy with the Authority. The University of Messina also joined the initiative, with the signature of the rector Giovanna Spatari on the minibus symbolizing the “journey towards awareness” placed last April 11th at the Messina central station, during the press conference to launch the national tour .

The event on May 3 will be live streamed on the University’s YouTube channel. It will open at 9.30 am with greetings from the rector Spatari, the presidents of the Guarantor, Pasquale Stanzione, Ses, Lino Morgante, and the Alumnime association. Francesco Rende. Prof. will follow the lesson. Ruben Razzante, professor of information law at the Cattolica of Milan.

Then the speeches of professors Maria Annunziata Astone and Giovanni Moschella and the editor-in-chief of the Gazzetta del Sud, Alessandro Notarstefano. The president of the Order of Journalists of Sicily, Roberto Gueli, co-director of Tgr Rai, will conclude. Moderated by the deputy editor of the Gazzetta del Sud, Natalia La Rosa, responsible for the Gds Academy and Unime Gds Lab. The conference was accredited by the Order of Journalists of Sicily as an in-person training event with 5 ethical credits.
