Away victories, attack “on fire”: Pistoia Basket does not stop breaking records in this fairytale season
April 28, 2024 will remain an important date in the history of Pistoia Basketball. And not only because the one where the playoff objective was achieved – seven years after the last time in the top league – but also because the one where the 100th victory in Serie A1 came. Success to the detriment of Dolomiti Energia Trentino It also brought with it new records, starting with the one relating to away victories. In fact, now the red and whites have reached eight “on the road” victories, doing better than the previous record of six, recorded in the 2014/15 year (Capo d’Orlando, Caserta, Cantù, Varese, Cremona and Pesaro) and in the 2015/16 (Pesaro, Trento, Turin, Brindisi, Caserta, Capo d’Orlando).
From Brindisi to Trento, passing through Milan, Casale Monferrato (home of Tortona), Treviso, Cremona, Naples and Bologna. An extraordinary journey, which becomes even more sensational if you consider that, in terms of external shots, in this championship for the moment only the league leaders have done better than Della Rosa and his teammates Virtus Bologna with nine successes, while Brescia is on par with the coach’s boys Nicola Brienza. In this special ranking, Estra even places behind the battleship Olimpia, Milan and Venice.

Not just the record of successes away from PalaCarrara. The triumph in Trentino coincides with another record: yes, because the red and whites had never managed to close three matches with at least 100 points scored in a single season. We remind you that, in addition to having inflicted them on Dolomiti Energia, Estra had also achieved this offensive goal on the occasion of hits on the parquet of Virtus Bologna and on that of Bertram Derthona Tortona, in the latter case however also taking advantage of the five minutes of overtime. Still speaking of attack, in the current championship Pistoia has concluded five matches with at least 90 points on the scoreboard: this is also a new record, given that the previous one was four (seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17).
Finally, the ranking chapter: at the end of the last regular season race, the Tuscan troop also has the chance to finish in fifth position. If he were to achieve this placing, then he would even do better than the sixth place achieved in the 2015/2016 season, when he sat on the red and white bench Vincenzo Esposito.
