In 2023 Sarzana recorded the highest tourist growth in Liguria

If already in 2022 the tourism numbers in Sarzana had recorded a record compared to previous years, in 2023 the city’s tourist growth exceeded all expectations, recording greater arrivals and presences than ever and establishing itself as the city with the greatest tourist development not only in the the entire province of La Spezia and Levante Liguria, but even the entire region.

The definitive numbers referring to the entire year 2023 by the Ligurian Regional Observatory confirm that thousands of tourists chose the city as a destination last year with 56,211 arrivals, compared to 41,340 in 2022, and an overall increase compared to the previous year of 14,871 visitors, equal to a percentage growth of 35.97%.
Presences are also growing, reaching the absolute record of 211,039 tourists, 25,027 more than in 2022, with a percentage increase of 13.45%.
Overall data which not only records a historical record for the city, but which also surpasses any other Ligurian city in terms of tourism growth.
Also significant is the significant growth in Italian tourism presences, +29.69% compared to 2022.
As for arrivals, however, compared to 2022, foreigners increased by 9,166 units (+62.15%) and Italians 5,705 (21.45%) who chose Sarzana as their destination.

Finally, the data linked to the deseasonalization of the tourist offer is surprising, which consolidates and grows further compared to the record already achieved in 2022, with an exponential deseasonalization of arrivals in the months of October and November. Below are the growth data distributed percentagewise across the various months:

January 2023 +34.01%
February 2023 +16.96%
March 2023 +20.09%
April 2023 +54.70%
May 2023 +18.08%

“The data comforts us on the quality of the actions and the path undertaken since the beginning of the previous legislature – declares the mayor Cristina Ponzanelli. – An impressive growth, in the context of a region and a province that is also growing, in which Sarzana stands out, and with data on seasonality that rewards a long-term strategy, also with the continuity of major events that make it recognizable and unique Sarzana. We will continue to work to grow further and to prolong the stay of tourists in our city, which has a strategic position for experiential tourism extended to the entire territory, the 5 lands, as well as neighboring cities and regions”.
