On May 2, Moncalieri commemorates the 47th anniversary of the massacre of the Carabinieri Giuseppe Terminiello and Tonino Gubbioni. Having fallen into service on 2 May 1977, they were murdered in an ambush in via Tiepolo in Moncalieri. It was around 2.30 when the Radiomobile with the two soldiers on board was traveling along the street when they were approached by two robbers who immediately fired on the patrol. Giuseppe Terminiello was hit by machine gun fire and died instantly, while Gubbioni managed to raise the alarm via radio before losing consciousness. When help arrived on site Gubbioni was urgently transported to Molinette, but unfortunately he died at around 7 in the morning after having been operated on. Giuseppe Terminiello, 37, married, left his wife and two children, while Tonino Gubbioni, 31, married, left his wife and two children.

A morning of remembrance and commemoration by the authorities is planned in front of the memorial stone in memory of the two fallen soldiers in Corso Savona.
