Enrico Coscioni suspended from the task of President of Agenas (National Agency for Regional Health Services).
The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloniupon proposal of the Minister of Health Orazio Schillacitherefore signed the suspension provision, before the judges of the Salerno Review Court decided on the appeal presented by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The head physician is involved in the investigation by the Salerno Prosecutor’s Office into the death of Umberto Maddolo which occurred on December 20, 2021 following a surgery of aortic valve replacement with bioprostheses and coronary revascularization. Coscioni and his team are also the recipients of a suspension order from the medical profession.
For the presidency of the Council of Ministers, therefore, the charges against Coscioni, although still being examined by the magistrate, appear “of such gravity to damage the image not only of the National Agency for Health Services of which he is president but also, in relation to the multiple and important competences that this agency exercises, of the entire public health sector”.
Professor Mario Polichetti, trade unionist of the provincial Uil Fpl and Head of the Risk Pregnancy Department at the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona in Salerno, today expressed his solidarity with the doctor Enrico Coscioni, suspended from the role of president of the ‘Agenas.
The decision to suspend doctor Coscioni from the role of president of Agenas, taken by the president of the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the Minister of Health, was motivated by facts alleged to be “of such gravity as to have undoubted repercussions also on the role carried out by himself as president of Agenas”.
In response to this decision, Professor Polichetti issued the following statements:
“I am deeply shocked by the suspension of doctor Enrico Coscioni from the role of president of Agenas. Doctor Coscioni has demonstrated constant commitment and unquestionable competence in the field of regional health services. His leadership has contributed significantly to the improvement of the national and regional health system,” he said. “I would like to express my solidarity and support for Doctor Coscioni in this difficult moment. I personally know his commitment and dedication to the cause of public health, and I am convinced that this suspension does not adequately reflect his integrity and professionalism. Doctor Coscioni has always worked with determination and transparency to guarantee high quality healthcare services for all citizens. His absence will certainly be a loss for Agenas and for the healthcare system as a whole. I am confident that the truth will emerge following a thorough investigation, and I hope that doctor Coscioni can soon return to play his important role in Agenas and continue his precious contribution to our healthcare system”, concluded Polichetti.
