PINETO. A young man was injured in a fire last night which destroyed the attic of a house. The incident occurred around 10.30pm in via Socrate, Corfu district. The young man, who frequents the top floor of the building, was rescued and suffered minor burns.

The alarm was raised by residents near the house who began to smell burning and then rushed out into the street seeing tall tongues of fire coming out of the terrace where there was a gazebo.
The Roseto firefighters arrived on site immediately and took hours to extinguish, also with the help of a ladder truck from Teramo.
The causes of the fire are being investigated. The Carabinieri and local police also intervened on site.
