Electric Opel, new 25,000 model arriving – Electric Cars

Opel’s electrification strategies also include a car on tap that will be placed below the Corsa in the range of the Lightning car manufacturer. The so-called low cost electric car, with a price therefore below 30,000 euros, presumably close to 25,000 euros, will therefore follow the example of the Citroen e-C3 and in all likelihood of the new Fiat Panda by exploiting the technological synergies of the Stellantis group.

The new low-cost electric Opel

The new compact electric Opel should in fact be born on the Smart Car platform, a multi-energy architecture initially used by the former PSA in some Asian countries and South America and now ready to land in Europe thanks to the new e-C3 which was launched on the market at 24,300 euros with a 19,990 euros version arriving in 2025 (battery with lower capacity as well as autonomy).

The future of Opel

However, the models would not risk cannibalizing each other within the group, just as it will not happen with the arrival of the Leapmotor range and Opel’s new low-cost EV will allow the brand to continue with the electrification strategy of the range, which recently welcomed the new Frontera: “We will move forward with the next generation of Opel models which will be exclusively electric. We set a good example with the Experimental concept” – explained Florian Heuttl, CEO of Opel – “Opel likes to work with concept cars and turn them into reality. The Experimental shows the next step in our plans to go fully electric with future models. With Frontera and the new Grandland, we are completing the first phase of electrification of Opel, where electric and combustion powertrains coexist.”
