Super Italy from start to finish in the European Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships which concluded yesterday. In the afternoon, the Italian Senior national team took third place in the team final (in the photo Casali, ph. Simone Ferrario/FGI), leaving the title that it had won in Turkey last year in the hands of Ukraine. The silver medal instead went to Great Britain.

Joys that not only affected the older athletes but also the children who yesterday morning took home a second place in the All Around signed by Tommaso Brugnami, behind the Frenchman Mansard and ahead of the British Langton.

Among the athletes competing in the Junior individual there was also Belettera who finished in ninth position. The Juniors’ loot, however, is not all there, the gymnasts went on to collect medals with a silver in the team championships, two golds on floor exercise and rings and a silver on vault signed by the usual Brugnami and a bronze on the bar for Beretta. The seniors who qualified in the team final during the first day of competition also added Yumin Abbadini’s bronze in the All Around to their prize list, the appetizer of a real feast of medals. A streak of victories and medals that may not end here: the Women’s European Championships begin on Wednesday and the Fates of Brescia are the likely winners of the team medal, a prize that was missed last year.
