The port will be able to resume full operations when the canal is freed from the wreck of the Dalì
Baltimore – The. no longer exists Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore which last March 26 was destroyed by the Dalì container ship which lost control. In fact the last remains of the infrastructure have been removed thanks to a ‘controlled’ explosionan operation carried out by the US army through specialized technicians.
The detonation shattered the bridge’s truss (which was still supported by the ship) into small sections, allowing emergency crews to use cranes and barges to remove the metal debris. The vessel had been stuck under the wreckage of the bridge since the day of the accident, in which six people died, and the port had been closed to traffic which will be able to resume after the removal of the cargo ship. According to the governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, the canal, 50 feet deep and 700 feet wide, will be available towards the end of May and will begin the journey towards the complete reopening of the entire American port. Rebuilding the bridge could cost $1.9 billion and will require at least four years of work.
