Ragusa – Nicola Genovese won the second edition of the Granfondo Città di Ragusa.

The 119.5 kilometer event did not disappoint expectations with the Iblean capital being invaded by two wheels.

Between the long and medium routes, over 300 runners crossed the finish line.

Paolo Genovese of Libertas Team Rosso Azzurri completed the route which had a difference in altitude of approximately 1800 meters in 3h12’46”.

In second place, 20″ behind, went Giuseppe Di Salvo of the GDS Team Competition. Third place was Pietro Mina of Team Bike Siracusa-Noto, 2’04” behind.

In the women’s field, the first to cross the finish line in 4h 00′ 01″ was Maria Migliore, also a member of Team Libertas Rosso Azzurri, who finished ahead of Ester Pisani of Team Nuova Avir by 1’59”, 7’16” behind Maltese Diana Muscat of Team Greens completed the “pink” podium as the winner.

The most southern Granfondo in Italy also awarded the regional category titles to Ivan Troia of Primavera Bike in the ELMT, and to Nicola Genovese of Libertas Team Rosso Azzurri in the M1 category.

In the M2 category, the regional title went to Giuseppe Pellegrino of Team Nuova Avir, while Giuseppe Di Salvo of GDS Team Competition won the regional title of the M3 category.

The M4 category, however, was won by Giovanni Campobello of Team Sparkle, imitated by Alfredo Stimoli of Pro Bike Ramacca in the M5 category.

Domenico Fiorito of Team Bike Ionica Riposto is the regional champion of the M6 ​​category, Giovanni Belluardo of Team Nuova Avir of the M7 category, Giuseppe Cortese Velonose Sicilia Cycling triumphed in the M8 category.

Maria Migliore of Team Rosso Azzurri won the W4 category, while Ester Pisani of Team Nuova Avir won the regional title in the W5 category

In the medium route of 95 km with 1,313 meters of altitude difference, the victory went to Alessio Finocchi of Team Stefan who concluded his efforts in 2h33’11”, crossing the finish line with a 32″ advantage over Mario Marino of Pedale Megarese Augusta who in the sprint he beat Giuseppe Cicciari of Gioventù Pacese who completed the podium.

Giovanna Carnemolla of Team Rosso Azzurri won the women’s race, covering the course in 2h54’37”. Second place went to Laura Cannizzo of Bike Queen who reached the finish line 8’24” behind and third was Grazia Maria Grasso of Team Nuova Avir who was 29’15” behind the winner.

Luca Brancato of the Nial Nizzoli Cycling Team was the best in the competitive test. The junior finished in 3h16’15”, finishing together with his teammate Matteo Paltrinieri, third was Giovanni Distefano Naturosa Bike & Co. At 1’09”, Giorgio Beretti, Brancato’s teammate, was first among the Under 23s.

A great day of sport experienced in Ragusa, thanks also to the collaboration of the Municipality and many local associations and sponsors who guaranteed their collaboration for a competition which, despite being only in its second year, is already in the hearts of Sicilian fans and not only.
