Car in the canal port in Rimini, divers in action: victim on board recovered

(Rimini). Firefighter divers and other law enforcement and rescue personnel in action in Rimini where yesterday, Sunday 28 April, a car ended up in the waters of the canal port. The car ended up in the water due to a voluntary action by the driver. Inside the car there was a 53-year-old man from Rimini, driving. The first investigations by the police seem to opt for suicide and exclude the presence of other people in the car, a hypothesis that circulated in the early stages. When the car was sinking into the water of the port, a 42-year-old Egyptian, who works as a fisherman, jumped into the water to help the rescue, reached the car and after breaking the window on the driver’s side grabbed the man by the arm trying to drag him to the surface. The 53-year-old resisted: “Leave me where I am,” he allegedly said. The body was then recovered while waiting for the medical examiner and the car was hoisted onto the dock.
