CESENA – Grifo disconsolate. Nothing to be done at Manuzzi for Formisano’s team who – with the aces rested in view of the post season – closed the regular season with a defeat. The Bianconeri, already certain of promotion to Serie B for weeks, defeat Perugia 2-0. The guests held out for about 10 minutes, then the Romagna players took over and prevailed with goals from Prestia and Corazza from the spot. Now head to the playoffs to keep alive some faint hope of promotion to the lower division.
The race
In the 9th minute, Agosti’s powerful right-footed shot was taken advantage of by the Romagna goalkeeper. Around the quarter of an hour Bartolomei tries to surprise Klinsmann from the edge but the ball goes out wide. The home team took the lead in the 18th minute: Prestia headed home a shot from the flag and sent it past Adamonis. The Cavallucci’s second goal came in the 36th minute, when Saber was brought down by Bartolomei and the referee awarded the penalty to the Bianconeri. Corazza from the spot is deadly and it’s 2-0. 3 minutes of added time pass and the teams go to the changing rooms. Nothing accomplished for Berti in the 49th minute. The red and white goalkeeper blocks a shot from Kargbo in the 50th minute. Kouan’s shot in the 68th minute which was saved in two stages by Klinsmann. Cicca Donnarumma in the 74th minute. At the end of the race there was room for Bezzicheri and Lickunas. In the 89th minute the Grifo goalkeeper said no to Shpendi’s left-footed shot. Ronchi narrowly misses the target in the 92nd minute. Triple whistle in the 95th minute: Perugia’s future lies in the playoffs.
