It will be, but in the meantime in Fortuna, which in mid-June will make the 43-year-old singer-songwriter of Albanian origins and his partner Chiara Sturdà (Milan, born in 1990, agent and marketing manager for a consultancy company) parents, the voice of Non mi hai fatti niente dedication a whole album. It is called Good Luck and will arrive on Friday 3 May, a few days after the announcement via social media of the baby’s imminent arrival. Meanwhile on Wednesday Ermal Meta will take on the role of host for the first time: he and Noemi will be the ideal hosts of the May Day Concert in Rome (on 7 May in the capital he will meet fans at the Feltrinelli in viale Libia 186, at 6pm, then on September 5th the tour will stop at the Parco della Musica), live on Rai3 from 3.15pm from Circo Massimo.
The four-piece bass drum of “Dance With You”, the Latin rhythms of “Mediterraneo”, the funk of “L’amour”, the rap of “Malepiù non fare” with the rhymes of Jake La Furia, the electronics of the duet with Levante on “Io e te”: do you step out of your comfort zone with these 12 songs?
“Yes. This is my most contaminated album. I tried to get involved. You need to expand your comfort zone. If before this album some sounds didn’t belong to me, now they belong to me. And then when as an author I wrote songs for others, before becoming an interpreter of my own songs, I touched all the genres a bit.”

Is it true that you had Amadeus listen to three songs for the last Sanremo, six years after the victory with “Non mi hai niente”, all of which were discarded?
«Yes: Mediterranean, The only danger and Ironica».
Did Amadeus hear it then?
“No. Patience. I think every artistic director has their own vision. And sometimes the songs have nothing to do with it. Unknowingly, he also did me a favor.”
A favor?
«Yes, because in February the album was still incomplete. I would have gone there that week without being able to promote it.”
Nowadays we go to Sanremo even without records to present.
«But I think differently. If you go to the Festival, you have to have an album to talk about. If he doesn’t go out on those days, he has to go out immediately afterwards. Otherwise what’s the point?”.
What has Ermal Meta’s career been so far?
«A career that grew slowly. Being an author, at the beginning, after the dissolution of my first band, La Fame Di Camilla, taught me a lot. I found myself at a crossroads: either I gave up and went back to University (he studied languages, ed.) or I stayed in the musical environment but in another form. Leaving the sector meant throwing away all the sacrifices made. I’ve wanted the stage for a long time. I built the path for myself piece by piece.”
Who was the first to believe in you as a singer-songwriter?
«My bassist, Dino Rubini».
The first song on the album is called “I decide the road” and he says it’s about “realizing that our heads are full of other people’s ideas that pretend to be ours”. Is it a coincidence that the song opens the first album she records after the breakup with the label that launched her, Mescal (she now records for Sony/Columbia), and her former manager, Valerio Soave?
“It has nothing to do with that. And in any case I look to the future, not to the past. There have been differences of opinion: when this is the case, it is right for everyone to take their own path.”
Without rancor?
“Without rancor.”
What was your greatest stroke of luck?
«My daughter, even if she hasn’t been born yet. And to think that for a long time I thought I didn’t want to have children.”
Why?
«It’s a job that no one teaches you. Now, however, I would also like to adopt children who have no parents. And maybe I will.”
Is it true that you want to create a fiction based on your book “Tomorrow and Forever”, from 2022?
“Yes. I relied on some agents who are negotiating with production companies. Let’s hope it goes through.”
