In Pescara three mayoral candidates (plus one) for the municipal elections in June
Descriptive text here

In Pescara there will be a vote for the renewal of the city council on 8 and 9 June. They will be special consultations because the mayor who will be elected will last only three years instead of the canonical five: in 2027, in fact, the birth of New Pescara is expected, which will unite Pescara, Montesilvano and Spoltore, and therefore by that date it will be necessary to go to the polls again because another mayor will have to be appointed who can lead the new maxi municipality. Whoever will be elected mayor in a few months will therefore be a transitional figure awaiting this important step, historical in its own way, which among other things will fall exactly a century after the annexation of Castellammare Adriatico to Pescara, supported by Gabriele d’Annunzio and built under the fascist regime in 1927.

Carlo Masci, outgoing mayor, is running for the second term in the ranks of the centre-right, supported by Lega, Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Noi Moderati, Masci Sindaco, Pescara Futura and Udc. Carlo Costantini, currently a city councilor, presents himself at the helm of a centre-left coalition which includes the Democratic Party, the 5 Star Movement, Action and the Green Left Alliance. The latter groups together the Italian Left, the Greens and the civic environmentalist ‘Radici in Comune’. Speaking of civic lists, ‘Carlo Costantini mayor’ and ‘We will make Pescara great’ also support the former deputy.

Finally, there is the so-called “Pettinari Coalition” which sides with Domenico Pettinari. The former vice president of the regional council, who left the M5S, is the only truly civic candidate because he is not supported by any party: at his side there are only ‘Pettinari Sindaco’ and ‘Cittadini per Pescara’, which was born from the ‘Together for Pescara’, in turn made up of the ‘Rinascita Pescara Centro’ and ‘Pescara Pulita’ committees. However, a fourth aspiring mayor could also surprisingly present his candidacy: this is the former parliamentarian Gianluca Fusilli, who is thinking of running for the United States of Europe, the list launched by Italia Viva for the European elections. But this, at the moment, is only a suggestion. 29 Apr. 2024
