ABRUZZO. “A few days after the alarm launched by Si.NAPPe, yesterday 04.27.24 in the Teramo prison, a sexual “violence” against female healthcare personnel was recorded.
A North African who was already the perpetrator of riots and attacks on policemen, the same compatriot of a prisoner who in recent days was responsible for sexual acts towards a doctor, with the “excuse” of needing health care, had himself taken to the infirmary .
Once he arrived in the presence of the health worker, leaving aside the suffering that had pushed him to ask for assistance, the prisoner suddenly groped the breast of the nurse present”.
The Si.NAPPe of Teramo declares:
“A problem that we have been paying attention to for some time thanks to the reports of our members, vigilant and in solidarity with the penitentiary system and which we have not hesitated to denounce, with the hope of a strong position taken by the top management of the Administration and unfortunately in this case, the tragic event was not prevented.
We await a directive that informs prisoners of the greatest attention paid to their conduct during medical examinations, training in respect for women and professions, and which provides for the keeping in service of all necessary personnel. We believe that the obsessive leave demanded and imposed by the Administration on the already scarce staff has facilitated the conviction among the prisoners of low vigilance and therefore the possibility of indulging in unacceptable gestures which the State, especially in the workplace, is obliged to do to prevent and condemn. We express our strongest closeness and support to the nurse who was the victim of the vile gesture, hoping that similar facts will not find any type of minimization and that the Administration will take action to remove the prisoner involved!”
