Softball A1: nice draw Caronno-Forlì, Saronno overflowing, Bollate fluently

CARONNO PERTUSELLA – Today (and tomorrow) the sixth round of the A1 softball series. As for today’s races

Mkf Bollate and Inox Team Saronno, who emerged victorious from the away games against Bertazzoni Collecchio and Thunders, extend their lead in the standings over their pursuers, taking advantage of the draw in the series between Rheavendors Caronno and Italposa Forlì. Three one-hitters on Saturday in A1 softball, those of Alice Nicolini, Kandra Lamb and Kelly Barnhill.

Rheavendors Caronno – Italposa Forlì

With a great start, Rheavendors Caronno won game 1 of the rematch of the last Scudetto final against Forlì. The game broke the deadlock immediately in the first inning with the run scored by Di Fonzo following an error by the Romagna defence, but it is in the second half that the game comes to a complete standstill: with the bases loaded, a full count and two outs, Sarah Edwards hits a grand slam against Ilaria Cacciamani which brings Caronno to 5-0. Forlì immediately tries to respond in the third quarter, in which he scores two points with the single Gasparotto and the subsequent point scored by herself on an error, but the forcing was interrupted by an error in inserting the temporary runner and for a couple of innings Bianca Messina Garibaldi regains control of his own platform, driving away Forlì’s offensives. The Romagna team scores again in the sixth, with double Carlotta Onofri who pushes home two teammates and closes the gap between the two teams to just one point. Caronno fails to extend against a Cacciamani team that doesn’t even allow crumbs in the second half of the match, but Messina Garibaldi also rejects Forlì’s latest attack and puts the exclamation point on the victory for 5-4 on Forlì.

The performance in game 2 was masterful Kelly Barnhill. The American pitcher playing for Italposa Forlì makes the best start of her 2024 season by launching a one-hitter with only one base on balls allowed and 16 strikeouts, to allow her team to even the score in the series and not lose further distance in the rankings. In the batter’s box, however, Ilaria Cacciamani is the great protagonist, who immediately unlocks the challenge against the opposing starter Iraimis Diaz with a bases loaded single that brings home Gasparotto’s run. In the following innings, in the third inning, the player from the Marches sends the ball over the fences for the 2-0 home run, a score that is further rounded two innings later by Noemi Giacometti who scores on a rebound from Lakes. The biggest chance for Caronno comes in the seventh inning when, thanks to a base on balls and a defensive error, they manage to have two runners in point position, without however capitalizing and the match therefore ends on 3-0 in favor of Forlì.

Thunders – Inox Team Saronno

In game 1 Saronno chooses to leave the ball in the game to Alice Ghillani to challenge Chiara Biasi and the start is a back and forth between the two sides, with the RBI double by Lozada to unlock the score and the point taken home by Biasi herself to provide run support. The match changes radically between the third and fourth rounds, when the Lombard team scores six points thanks to Round (2 RBI), BrownLozada e Brugnoli who, in addition to the two-run single driven home in the third inning, will add a third personal RBI in the sixth inning with Saronno’s eighth-run single. The Thunders try to respond with the first two players in their lineup: first Sbrissa drives home Sofia Fabbian with a double and then, in the last fraction, Fabbian herself sets the score on8-3 ending with a home run to center.

Race 2, as usual at this start of the championship, is the fiefdom of Kandra Lamb. The Australian pitcher from Saronno comes close to the third no-hitter of the season (it would have been the first in 7 innings) broken only by a single by Agnese Giacometti with one out to go, but signs another great performance with 14 strikeouts and no points conceded, which allows the attack greater peace of mind. The performance of is also positive Lixiana Melendez on the floor for the Thunders, so much so that until the fifth round the score was still at 1-0. Saronno’s first two points are helped by defensive errors, then in the sixth inning Fabrizia Marrone, author of two three-hit games in the two games, pushes home Cianfriglia for 3-0 and the match takes a clear direction. In the last attack Saronno adds another four points, thanks to the hits of Armirotto And Bartolito set the score on 7-0.

Bertazzoni Collecchio – MKF Bollate

In game 1 Bollate started strong, scoring five points in the second attack thanks to the grand slam of Mikiko Eguchi and adding one in the third with RBI by Polinithen he had to defend himself from Collecchio’s return attempt who scored four runs between the third and fourth innings – none of which were earned on Cecchetti And Bigattonpitchers from Bollate – with the doubles of Marsteller And Column and the single by Bass. In the last three rounds, however, the Emilian team are unable to add further points and Bollate puts the match on ice by scoring another two against Alessia Melegari: in the sixth inning Main bring home Binetti with a sacrifice fly and in the seventh Lucia Polini is once again the protagonist, this time with a double, to put the8-4 the final.

Less fight in game 2, in which Collecchio’s lineup finds no countermoves to the throws of Alice Nicolini (one-hitter with 0 BB and 7 K in 5 IP), while the Bolatese attack immediately hits the pitches of Jensen Main. Already in the first half the Lombards move forward with the triple RBI Elisa Cecchetti and the point she scored from Princic’s rebound. In the third quarter Cecchetti embellishes his game with a two-run home run which he follows immediately after that of Gabriela Slaba. Up 5-0, with the game on ice, Bollate puts the exclamation point in the fifth attack, doubling the spoils: Tower brings home Bigatton, author of a triple to open the second half, then Eguchi (single) and Princic (double with 2 RBI) continue the party, with Cecchetti placing the last high note with a sacrifice fly for the fourth run batted in home of his match. Bollate triumphs 10-0 in five rounds and maintains the top of the rankings.
