The first edition of “Spring on books” organized by this newspaper in collaboration with the Collettivo A cultural association was inaugurated yesterday evening, Friday 26 April.
The festival at the Europa theater in Monte San Pietrangeli which includes a meeting for every Friday of the next month at 9.00 pm began yesterday evening with Adolfo Leoni.
The journalist and writer from Montegiorge, born in Fermo and adopted by Fermo, has proposed his sixteenth book entitled “The mystery of the Sacred Icon”, published by Albero Niro.
On stage, together with him, Massimiliano Berdini, painter for transport and goldsmith for living, and Lorenzo Bracalente director of Viverefermo and moderator of the evening.
To begin the evening, an exchange of words between the protagonists and then Adolfo Leoni, who in the last thirty years of his journalistic career has put the valorisation of the Fermo area at the forefront of his writings, spoke about his sixteenth work “THE MYSTERY OF THE HOLY ICON ”.
“It’s a short novel, imaginary but not too much” – explains the author. Carlo, the protagonist, is a restless person in an era that anesthetizes everyone a little.
One evening, probably autumnal, surrounded by fog, he leaves the house and, finding himself in front of the Fermo Cathedral, sees that a small side door is open. Intrigued and even a little scared he enters and in the dim light he glimpses a man praying in front of the Sacred Icon of the Madonna.
Curious as he is, he begins a dialogue with the stranger and from there, with a journey back in time, he reaches 1400 to try to understand how the Sacred Icon arrived in Fermo and who made it.
Mystery, plots and legends overlap in the plot of the book and Massimiliano Berdini (the book cover is his) accompanies the writer’s words by explaining to those present the uniqueness of this extraordinary wooden work little known to everyone but of immense artistic value.
According to those who were present, it was a pleasant and instructive evening.
The next appointment is for Friday 3 May at 9.00 pm.
Guest of the second meeting will be Vincenzo Varagona who will talk about the life of Father Gianfranco Priori who everyone calls the “magician friar” who will also be present at the evening.
