A weekend with the Bonsai festival in Ferrara: two days to experience

Ferrara, 10 May 2024 – First weekend with the Bonsai festival of the Ferrara Off theater. In two days, four shows with debuts and first studies. The eighth edition officially kicks off with four performance narratives at the Ferrara Off theatre, in Viale Alfonso I d’Este, 13. The first two shows will be staged today at 9pm.

The debut of “In chaos born” by Pouria Jashn Tirgan, which opened the Bonsai Festival last Wednesday with a special preview for the students of the Ariosto high school, will be preceded by the first study of “For pleasure”, where the Milanese dancer and performer Annalisa Limardi questions what pleasure means and why we need it so much. Tirgan will then propose a show that combines the art of spoken word, performative poetry, with narrative theatre, seeking a new way to tell her personal story, which focuses on her origins in the balance between Iranian and Italian culture. On Sunday, again at 9pm, Annalisa Limardi returns to the stage with “No”, a short piece that investigates the difficulty of recognising, expressing and defending one’s personal and intimate boundaries. Following the director Ksenija Martinović is back at Ferrara Off, where she closed Bonsai last

year, to bring “Tesla” with Federico Bellini, a show about the famous scientist: a crossing of genres, from pure narrative theater to representative theater up to contemporary performativity. New for 2024 at the Bonsai Festival is the responsible ticket. To guarantee access to all people, the public will choose the most sustainable entry fee, among various price ranges. Everyone will be free to contribute according to their availability, because the theater needs the support of the spectators, but above all their presence. These are the next appointments.

May 18th Bonsai opens its doors to the world of nature with “Royal Jelly”, in collaboration with the Natural History Museum to celebrate World Bee Day. At 11am Ferrara Off he welcomes the conclusion of the entomological walk under the walls with the reading of a brilliant and macabre story by Roald Dahl for adults and children.
