Mission accomplished. Victory had to be and victory it was for Avellino who tames Crotone and closes at second place in the standings. Objective (the second of the season after failing to gain direct promotion) achieved for Michele Pazienza who for weeks now had been placing all his attention on second place. Second step of the podium which ensures entry into the play-off lottery at Second Round of the National Phase and the possibility of playing with two results out of three available. But the post season hides many pitfalls.
First of all: the three-week break that separates the Wolves from returning to the pitch. Regulations in hand, Pazienza’s boys should play in the play-off round next time May 18thoutside the home, and the May 21st within the walls of Partenio-Lombardi. Three weeks of forced stop which the Wolves will use first of all to carry out an athletic recall and put petrol in the legs. But above all, this time will have to be made the most of by the green-and-white coach to patch things up many, too many, seasonal hesitations.
Against Crotone only the three points counted, but even against the Pythagoreans a series of technical limitations emerged which must necessarily be addressed. L’ineffectiveness of the external lanesthe general slowness of the maneuver and the little flexibility in the midfield these are elements that Mister Pazienza and his staff will necessarily have to work on starting in the next few days. Pending developments and the completion of the Final Draw, the qualified teams in Group C are: Avellino, Benevento, Catania, Casertana, Taranto, Picerno, Bold Cerignola, Giugliano, Crotone, Latin.
The First Round of the Group, which will be played in a single match hypothetically on May 4th, will feature: Taranto-Latina, Picerno-Crotone And Bold Cerignola-Giugliano. There Casertana is in the Second Round of the Group. Benevento And Catania (winner of the Serie C Italian Cup) are in the First Round of the National Phase while theAvellino is in the Second Round of the National Phase.
