“Hole in the budget, but poor services. The company should clarify”

L’AQUILA – “An increase in health spending does not correspond to an increase in the quality of services; on the contrary, the problems affecting the L’Aquila local health authority seem to be getting worse. Waiting lists, passive mobility and staff shortages do nothing but increase the dissatisfaction of users and healthcare company employees”. This was stated by the provincial secretary of Uil Fpl Antonio Ginnetti, the health manager Gianfranco Giorgi and the member of the provincial secretariat Claudio Incorvati in reference to the Abruzzo healthcare accounts which show a hole of 122 million, with the sad record of the L’Aquila local health authority which records a loss of 46 million, the largest budget among Abruzzo healthcare companies.

“We are very worried, because this chasm has not actually filled the serious deficiencies in the healthcare system in L’Aquila, where even basic healthcare facilities, such as syringes, gloves, cotton wool and some types of medicines are periodically missing. An anomaly that must be clarified by giving explanations to users and workers.”

And they continue: “We therefore ask for a meeting with the ASL management to see clearly and to understand what the investments really were that led to such a deficit in the budget. There is talk of investments in personnel recruitment, of an infrastructural and technological nature, but the results of these investments are very little evident. There seems to be a dark future on the horizon and we really hope we’re wrong.”
