Fattori’s problems “travel” on Instagram

The Fattori stadium is back in the news. To rekindle the spotlight, which in reality has never been turned off, on the Comunale is “Football Elite”, a very popular page on Instagram that talks about football, especially national football, in romantic terms.

Among the various nostalgic stories, a few days ago, a long thought was posted on the Fattori stadium: from “Football Elite” they explain that they are also from Civitavecchia and talk about the ordeal they have experienced since 2018, the year of its closure, to then move on to the project renovation project postponed several times and then interrupted. “What we are losing – we read in one of the most significant passages of the post – are we, citizens and lovers of sport, in particular football, who without our most important place of aggregation, are also losing our sense of belonging towards the city team, Civitavecchia Calcio 1920”. Among other things, the thought was also taken up by “Tifoserie Italiane Official”, another very followed page on Instagram that talks about football seen from the fans’ point of view. In short, if the Fattori stadium wasn’t already a much discussed and important topic for the city, here are some very popular social media pages that are very passionate, especially those who love football in its most romantic form. The “Football Elite” post ends with “Give us back the stadium”, three simple words which, however, unfortunately seem increasingly distant from the reality of the facts.

Here is the full post from the Instagram page “thefootballelite2”:

“Stadiums are the homes of the people, especially the working classes. Places where identities and a sense of belonging are built, where the community finds a space to rejoice, suffer, live collectively. In Italy the stadium issue has become one of the primary problems of football and beyond. From North to South, from the largest to the smallest municipalities. Since after Italia 90 there have been few renovations or new buildings. Too many open-air cathedrals, old, useless, and not made for fans. Many know us, we are from Civitavecchia, a city in the province of Rome known above all for its cruise port. For many years our municipality has also been experiencing these sporting difficulties and beyond. At the end of 2018 the municipal plant was closed for safety reasons. From then on the beginning of an ordeal. The project for the renovation of the “Factors Stadium” was postponed several times and then interrupted. Work appears to have resumed but very slowly. It is we who are losing ourselves, citizens and lovers of sport, especially football, who without our most important meeting place, are also losing our sense of belonging to the city’s team, Civitavecchia Calcio 1920. Many have spent entire days on that pitch, or on those steps. From the stories of our grandparents to the present day. From days under the hot sun to colder ones. Entire generations have passed through there. We citizens deserve to have our facility back, perhaps one that can become multipurpose, so that we can experience it at 360 degrees. This is the slogan we would like for all of Italy, because sport is an integral part of our daily life, and football an integral part of our popular tradition.
Give us the stadium back!”.
