The two tests of the Italian shore rod championship in pairs took place in Civitavecchia, in the port, inside the breakwater.
Forty-seven couples from all over Italy lined up on the competition field to compete for the Italian title.
Quay 13 bis is a comfortable and safe competition field, with the possibility of guaranteeing interesting fishing. Today Civitavecchia and its port, for the National Federation FIPSAS, are a consolidated point of reference for the Italian Championships and the National Blue Club.
A presence of garistas, to the delight of hoteliers, restaurants, pizzerias, bars etc. which hadn’t been recorded in years.
Fishing was the usual one, aimed at catching sea bream and bream, with horse mackerel almost completely absent. Difficult fishing that became even more complicated in the lower part of the field, the innermost part of the port, where these fish evidently struggled to enter.
As established by the regulatory circular and the FIPSAS competition regulations, the fish caught were kept alive in large pots and released back into the sea at the end of the competition.
In the end, the only couple to have won the sector twice was that of LNI Spotorno made up of Paolo Lacerenza and Andrea Moscetti who won the 2024 Italian pairs title.
A well-deserved victory by all accounts because it was achieved in two difficult sectors and without the help of Lady Luck regarding the picket draw.
Behind them, silver went to Giorgio Boggi and Massimo Bacchiani of Mestrina with three penalties and greater weight on Fabio Pantani and Jacopo Collavoli of GPS Lo Squalo di Venezia who won bronze.
The result of the home athletes was excellent, just after the lowest step, with 4 penalties for the 5th place of Mauro Campidonico and Francesco Di Lisciandro.
To underline the excellent organization of the home club ASD Canna da Riva.
The awards ceremony took place, in the presence of the Sports Delegate, City Councilor Matteo Iacomelli, at the welcoming headquarters of the Lega Negale in Civitavecchia.
