The “Flower Festival 2024” comes to life in Acireale. Yesterday afternoon, inauguration of the flower and craft markets and immediately afterwards, the first parade of flower-decorated floats along the streets of the historic centre.
The wagons – illustrates a note from the spokesperson of the Acireale Carnival Foundation -they transformed Piazza Duomo into a real artistic setting in a riot of flowers and colours.
The themes touched upon by the Acesi flower masters are very topical, from gender violence, to respect for animals and then to the homage to street artists and the search for happiness despite the difficulties of our time. Up to the message, a warning, aimed at raising awareness among young people about the use of drugs and alcohol while driving.
Flower Festival: the appointments
And today, Saturday 27 April, waiting for this evening’s musical event, with the Milanese band “Le Vibrazioni” in Piazza Duomo at 9pmthere are many events scheduled.
At 5pmsecond day of parades for flower-decorated floats with musical bands, majorettes, flag-wavers and themed masked groups.
They won’t be missed the miniature floats on display at the Maugeri theatre and the possibility of visiting the Carnival, historical uniforms and Sicilian Puppet museums.
Double date at 6pm and 7pm in Piazza Alfio Grassiwhere it will be possible to attend the shows “Puppet Opera”.
Starting from 6pm at the Palazzo del Turismo, there will be space for guided tastings and tasting tables organized by AIS – Catania.
It is also important to point out that art and faith itineraries in the churches of the historic center with “Via Pulchiritudinis” until 8pm edited of the Cento Campanili association.
Mayor Barbagallo: “A party to be valorised”

“ It’s a precise signal that we want to give – underlined the president of the Carnival Foundation, Nando Ardita. – Making the city even more beautiful and we are trying to make it happen. We were lucky enough to be able to obtain, through our project, the interest of the Region, which I thank, with an important contribution for the Flower Festival which allowed us to invest in important shows and above all beautify our city. And then what about our masters, the floats are spectacular, we haven’t seen works with such attention to detail for years. I invite everyone to come and admire them, I’m sure you will be thrilled.”
The Tuscan councilor: “Many markets to enhance the flowers”
Also present at the inauguration of the flower and craft markets were the Tourism Councilor, Enzo Di Mauro and the councilor for Productive Activities, Laura Toscano.
“We wanted to clearly highlight flowers with many markets – declared theTuscan councilor. A floral route that starts from via Ruggero Settimo to via Cavour, with markets focused on craftsmanship and ends on via Alessi with stands dedicated to Sicilian carts and Sicilian puppets. There is already a large turnout in these hours and we expect a huge presence of visitors in the coming days. The path taken is the right one. Workshops dedicated to the little ones are also held within the markets, so that they can learn and carry on our traditions.”
“ A beautiful city ready to welcome all those who want to come and visit us – he has declared Councilor Di Mauro. Another three intense days await us with the flowered floats at the center which are a peculiar characteristic of Acireale. And for this reason we wanted to give them an independent space by releasing them from the traditional historic exit together with the papier-mâché floats of the traditional Carnival.
For those coming to the city, this year we have also thought of a free shuttle service to reach the centre. From the car parks, therefore, it will be possible to reach the attraction areas comfortably and for free”.
