Last day of celebrations for the centenary of the Province of La Spezia

The last evening, yesterday Friday 26 April 2024, closed with applause and the notes of a musical event, dedicated, at the conclusion of a cycle of conferences and a multimedia and interactive exhibition, to the history of the provincial body and organized in context of the celebrations for the centenary of the Province of La Spezia itself. Yesterday, in the presence of a large audience who filled the hall and the central staircase of the Government Palace since 6pm, was truly a special day, a journey through the history of the institution, accompanied by singing and music with a final concert in the evening.

The event opened with institutional greetings from President Pierluigi Peracchini who brought attention back to the choice to dedicate the centenary to young people. The provincial president recalled that from the creation of the logo, with which the centenary was celebrated, to the setting up of the exhibitions, to the presence in the various initiatives with artistic expressions, the schools and students have always walked together with the institution, actively participating in the events and initiatives that have taken place over the past few months.

This centenary, it was reiterated in the official speech, was a unique opportunity to discuss, involving the new generations, the school children, to whom we could leave a historical and cultural legacy defined as the truest meaning of what is the La Spezia community. The Province is asked to play an important role in the management of the territory and services towards communities and citizens, but even more it is asked to work for the planning of tools intended for new generations, building a future made of opportunities concrete for young people.

The theme of the final evening, as part of the main theme along which the century of life of the Province was revived, was dedicated to the figure of the poet and writer Ettore Cozzani, with a focus on the chronicles of the magazine L’Eroica which he told, in those years, precisely the constitution of the Province. The reports, in this last conference, were given by Marco Biagioni on: “1911: The birth in La Spezia of “L’Eroica” by Ettore Cozzani”, Giovanni Pardi on: “Music and Architecture meet Poetry” and Fabrizio Ferrari on “The Government Palace, the citizens’ heritage. Story of a perfect contract”, moderated by Cinzia Forma.

Also for yesterday evening, as happened on all the other three occasions, at the end of the meetings the historic halls of the Government Palace were open to visitors and the documents relating to the foundation of the Institution were exhibited, all through an immersive journey dedicated to the characters and the 32 municipalities of the area. The reading of the decree establishing the Province of La Spezia by Vittorio Emanuele III himself was highly appreciated, thanks to a vocal reconstruction program that reproduced the original voice of the sovereign.
