At the Stendhal in Civitavecchia an Erasmus with French, Turkish and Greek students • Terzo Binario News

The IIS Stendhal in Civitavecchia hosted the Italian stage of the Erasmus+ Covet Sustainable Cooperation For Goals at VET Schools partnership project from 15 to 19 April.

The city school institute welcomed the European partners, that is, a delegation of students and teachers from France, Turkey and Greece.

The European groups stayed in our city and participated in the activities organized by the Stendhal Erasmus Italia Team, coordinated by the contact person, Prof. Claudia Iacoponi. Each of our three addresses at the IIS Stendhal has developed the theme of promoting agricultural sustainability “PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE”, according to its own study plan, the world of food and wine and hospitality for Cappannari, tourism for Croce and cheap for Baccelli.

The activities began on the morning of April 15th, Prof. Gasparini, Salerni and Carrozzo and the students in charge of check-in registered the guests. In the school auditorium, the Headmaster, Prof. Maria Federici and Prof. Iacoponi welcomed and greeted the teachers and students and officially began the Italian stage. After carrying out the ice breaking activities designed and presented by Prof. Lalli, the schools of Civitavecchia, Le Havre, Istanbul and Athens presented the students’ productions on video in which they developed the central theme of mobility of the project Erasmus, that is, sustainable agriculture. In this activity the Italian team was represented by some students from classes 2A and 2B, 3A and 3B of the Technical address for Tourism and the 3A food and wine address. Afterwards, the group was invited to the Molinari Room where a lunch awaited them Km0. The 3AE food and wine class, coordinated by Prof. Valentina Feriozzi and the 4BS class, coordinated by Prof. Saviano presented a menu with courses that had local and seasonal products as ingredients. In the afternoon, Professors Iacoponi and Spera, assisted by some students of the 4A of the Technical address for Tourism, led the groups on a tour of the port and the historic center in English and French. On Tuesday 16 April, the teams were welcomed by the students and Professors Bedini, Brunetti, Ianniello, Fasulo, Ferri and Gasparini of the Baccelli Technical Economic address, in the associated headquarters in Via Leopoli.

During the morning course, the theme “Civitavecchia, a land and a sea of ​​sustainability” was discussed, highlighting the importance of the circular economy, the Green economy and the Blue economy with activities presented by the kids from 4C RIM, supported by Prof. Brunetti and Ferri. The day continued with a visit by the participants, accompanied by professors Bedini, Brunetti and Ianniello, to Mr. Stefano De Paolis’s Gattopuzzo farm in Civitavecchia. This activity made Erasmus students discover the value of food sustainability and agricultural multifunctionality and highlighted the importance of agriculture as a development model, the work of the farmer, the origin of the foods we consume, the the environment and the traditions and history of the Civitavecchia area.

On Wednesday 17th, the Erasmus team accompanied by the Economic Technical teachers was welcomed by the IIS “Cardarelli” of Tarquinia and which proposed laboratory activities in the greenhouse with expert teachers. The students, after an educational visit to the greenhouse, first carried out experiments and witnessed some chemical reactions, and then planted a small cutting of rosemary. The day then continued with a visit to the UNESCO site of the Necropolis of Tarquinia, the historic center of Tarquinia and the Archaeological Museum. For this day we would like to thank the school directors, Professor Maria Federici and Professor Laura Piroli for their availability and commitment to carrying out this profitable twinning.

On Thursday, once again in the central headquarters, the activities once again made the students protagonists with a workshop “COOKING AT 0 KM”, that is, the preparation of Neapolitan-style pizza with traditional and local ingredients, the students took part in the Mystery box laboratory in rotation, Professor Matteucci proposed a sensory analysis exercise. The students had to identify the ingredients of dishes from European countries and then follow the café and cocktail preparation workshop with Prof. Calabrese and an external trainer. And then, pizza for everyone!

In the evening, farewell dinner at the Tavi’-Hotel de la Ville restaurant in our city. Prof. Iacoponi and Director Prof. Federici greeted the teams and handed over the certificates of participation in the Italian stage and afterward music and entertainment for the Italian and European students.

On April 19th, at the end of the intense week, Professors Bruni, Fasulo and Ianniello accompanied the teams to Rome, the theme of the tour being Baroque Rome, but the walk along the Trajan Markets, the Forum up to the magnificence of the Colosseum, which is unmissable marked the end of these days characterized by the exchange of experiences linked to the topic of sustainable agriculture, but the mobility was also something else: friendship, exchange and reflections on teaching practices, solidarity, joy, a precious baggage for the lives of the students and teachers! WE ARE ERASMUS SCHOOL!
