Yet another ranking of the pizzas with the Marinara from the best pizzerias in Salerno and surrounding areas who participated in the Qualifying Rounds of the Pizza Championship.
Out of 10 selected pizzerias (compared to the 25 in Naples and the 13 in Caserta) in total 50 pizzerias of the 5 provinces of Campania (Avellino and Benevento each fielded one), only 2 reached the Round of 16. I am the Gli Esposito pizzeria in Salerno (1to in Group L) and Officina della Pizza in Sarno (2to in Group G).
But under the heading best seafood pizzas in Salerno and its province, there are 7 pizzerias that earn a good rating. Only 1 excels with an excellent rating. The others are in a range of 7 and decimals and only one came close to it.

But now let’s see where to go to eat a good if not awful marinara pizza in Salerno and surrounding areas.
1. Pizza Workshop – Sarno
Mario Severino barely breaks the mark of 8 on his report card thanks to the best Marinara pizza in Salerno and surrounding areas. Despite placing second in his group and in the overall score of the three pizzas judged (Margherita and Marinara obligatory), he took first place thanks to a marinara which was however special. In fact, he adds yellow tomatoes and anchovies to the red tomato.

2. Don Antonio 1970 – Salerno
Fabio Di Giovanni paid the price in the general ranking of his group for an unconvincing Margherita (6th in the Salerno ranking) and Carminuccio, but scored a very good Marinara which also in this case is enriched by anchovies.

3. The Grotticelle – Caggiano
Angelo Rumolo also suffered some scoring problems with his Margherita while the special Zammedda went higher together with the Marinara which climbs onto the podium of the best marinaras of Salerno and the province thanks to a pizza with a strong and memorable flavor which is helped by the anchovies.

4. The Espositos – Salerno
One of the wild cards of the Pizza Championship literally flew with the Salsiccia e broccoli (2nd best performance) and with the Margherita (3rd best performance). You lost scores and positions with the Marinara which however is among the best pizzas in Salerno even though it is not on the podium. Marco D’Elia pays the price because the excellent tomato was not followed by oregano and garlic of equal quality.

5. 3 Cravings – Battipaglia
Valentino Tafuri has a good hand and he demonstrated it by going over 700 in his group L, the most competitive, which saw him 3rd in the rankings. His Marinara is not very fragrant but the dough and cooking are very good.

6. Die’ Gustibus – Baronissi
Another wild card that honors itself and rewards the choice of the juror who put his best foot forward to include it in the list of the 50 best pizzerias in Campania. In Baronissi you will find Diego Ciraudo’s small pizzeria who studies doughs and different types of pizza. It produces one of the best Marinara pizzas in the province of Salerno which only requires better distribution of the tomato.

7. Resilience – Salerno
Gennaro Coppeta always pays close attention to the ingredients he uses for his pizzas, which are also available with semi-wholemeal dough. This time his Marinara is betrayed by an oil that is not perfectly fine but the skills of the pizza chef and the performance of the pizzeria keep him in the attention of this ranking which sees him one step away from good with a score of 6.7.

And it will be the winner of the ranking of the best seafood pizzas who will compete in the next Round of 16 in an all-Salerno competition: Officina della Pizza vs Gli Esposito.
As usual, the public will be able to participate by booking a table and judging the three pizzas of the Officina della Pizza pizzeria using the same system: Capricciosa, Diavola and the most representative pizza of the pizzeria. Which will be ordered in the evening.
