The service construction sites are returning to Trapani and public utility activities will begin by the summer. The 2020 European Social Fund has admitted to financing the proposal relating to public utility projects presented by the Municipality of Trapani with an allocation of resources amounting to 453,185.77 euros.
The funding will be used to give a job opportunity back to those going through a difficult time. Less well-off citizens will be engaged in socially useful jobs such as small maintenance, weeding, security and other similar activities that will be carried out in the area starting next autumn.
“This financing is an important step in the action of the social services sector of this Administration – comments Giuseppe Virzì, councilor for Social Services -. It is a decree of Monday 22 April, thanks to which the Municipality of Trapani has access to the European regional and social fund and the possibility of investing an amount of approximately 450 thousand euros on service construction sites. This will allow us to organize public utility projects for the benefit of less well-off citizens”.
Out of 25 municipalities, only Palermo has a larger fund: over 1 million euros. Demonstrating virtuous administrative management and how programming responds to society’s challenges.
The actions programmed in the European Social Fund refer, in particular, to active employment policies aimed at young people, women, vulnerable people and migrants, without neglecting those who have lost their jobs at an advanced age and are considered too young to go to work. retired and too old to find a new job in relation to their expectations.
The public utility and active citizenship projects are in favor of disadvantaged individuals excluded from the job market through the creation of work experiences related to orientation and accompaniment actions that favor their inclusion.
“As for August and September 2023 – continues Virzì – we are working to start the civic service construction sites. Allowing some workers and citizens to be able to carry out public utility activities, precisely in the context of job grants, and social assistance. We are completing all the bureaucratic procedures needed to start these projects as soon as possible”.
Among the activities carried out by the Social Services, there are also those relating to checks on social and healthcare facilities. “Here, go and check together with Suap – concludes Virzì – the regularity of these structures is important to then allow our citizens and families to have adequate structures where they can host their loved ones”.
