An earthquake woke up several citizens between Naples and Pozzuoli at dawn today, 27 April 2024: the seismographs of the Vesuvian Observatory recorded it at 5.44 am (Italian time) and located it off the coast of Pozzuoli, with estimated magnitude 3.9 on the Richter scale (with margin of error 0.3) and at an estimated depth of 3 km. During the night there were other smaller events: the seismographs recorded a total of 21 up to 5.58 am, many of which with a magnitude lower than 1 and with depths varying between 0 and 2.8 km.

Scary yes but no harm. The mayors of Pozzuoli, Gigi Manzoni, and Bacoli, Josi Della Ragione, call for calm.
