the proposals of the mayoral candidates

An ASI department to support entrepreneurs. It is Adriana Poli Bortone’s proposal made during an electoral campaign that is approaching the last month, the decisive one. But the proposals for the future administration do not stop here.

Alberto Siculella, mayoral candidate of the Mind and Aria civic lists, also illustrated his program on Welfare while Bronek Pankiewicz, president of Movimento Nuovo candidate for the Municipal Council in Prima Lecce, asks that Lecce be immediately nominated as the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026.

Adriana Poli Bortone takes inspiration from a speech by the entrepreneur Antonio Quarta who highlighted critical issues and shortcomings related to roads, safety, lighting, greenery, signage and logistics in the industrial area of Lecce. «I want to remember in this regard that already way back in 1998, the year of my election as mayor of Lecce, we decided to include among the councilor’s delegations that of the ASI which, as the industrialist Antonio Quarta rightly maintains, requires particular attention, in what actually represents a real neighborhood of the city that cannot be entrusted only to a form of self-management. Precisely from a perspective of development and dialogue with the productive reality of the territory it will be necessary to constantly relate with this area and with the organizations that represent it. This is with the aim of optimizing and making its essential infrastructures more efficient, as noted by Quarta. Only in this way can that area be given back the dignity it deserves, since it represents the heart of entrepreneurship in Lecce, Surbo and neighboring municipalities”, states Poli Bortone.

The senator is convinced that a better organization serving the security and logistics of the area can enhance the dynamism of industrial activities. «I am certainly held in high regard in my nine-year mandate and greatly neglected in the seven years of the center-left administration and the outgoing mayor», attacks Poli Bortone.

Meanwhile, Alberto Siculella continues his solitary journey and illustrates his program on welfare. «Our perspective starts from guaranteeing spaces, ideas, services, resources for the most vulnerable. Disability and fragility must return to the center of a truly inclusive city political agenda. Starting from the involvement of the associations, our intervention plan proposes various ideas of great importance and impact. An integration and installation plan of new tactile paths, LVE vocals and traffic light acoustic signals for the blind. An integrated plan for the removal of architectural barriers based on mapped critical issues and, again, a dataset of social and psychological needs and emergencies” explains the civic mayor candidate.

Bronek Pankiewicz, president of Movimento Nuovo and candidate for the municipal council in Prima Lecce, asks mayor Carlo Salvemini to present, by 30 June, the project dossier to the Ministry of Culture to advance Lecce’s candidacy as Italian Capital of Contemporary Art.

«My idea of the future, my vision of the city, but also that of the centre-right is Lecce, City of Art, Culture, Sea, Capital of the Baroque and Archaeological City. Now there is this new challenge, an excellent one I would say, proposed by the president of the board of directors of the Academy of Fine Arts Nicola Ciracì that Lecce should be part of the match for the awarding of the title of Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026. Salvemini roll up immediately roll up your sleeves and call the Academy of Fine Arts, the gallery owner Tiziano Giurin and other public and private entities around a table and keep faith with the commitment made to start this path”, claims Pankiewicz.
