MESSINA – The engines are started at the Kartodromo of Messina for the 2024 Interprovincial Sprint Championship. Today’s eagerly awaited event, Saturday 27 April, organized by the Karting Club Messina of the manager Duilio Petrullo, is the third of the season which takes place in collaboration with the Ispica track of the organizers Carmelo and Gianfranco Ricca, after the test on the banks of the Strait on 3 February and the subsequent one staged on 2 March in Ispica, where the final act of this poker of events is scheduled for 29 June. The final score of each day derives from the sum of the results that the riders obtain in Race 1 and Race 2, contributing to formulating the general classification.

For today’s test of the Interprovincial Sprint Championship there are a total of 43 participants in the F1, F2 and F3 categories. According to the usual format, Race1 and Race2 Sprint of 36 laps each (plus a mandatory stop for kart change), preceded by 8′ qualifying sessions, will be contested in two different heats. After the participants meet on the track, the usual briefing and the kart draw, we will start at 3.30 pm for a succession of emotions, thrills and adrenaline. The pit will remain open by regulation for 10′, starting from the fifth lap. Any penalties will be inflicted by the race direction, based on the judges’ reports, also making use of the VAR to examine, through video footage, all the phases on the track. At the end, from 7.30 pm, awards will be given on the podium for the first three classified F1, F2 and F3, as well as for the driver who achieved the absolute “best lap” of the event and the pole position.

As regards the internal Sprint Championship (only the points earned on the Messina circuit are valid), based on the SWS system the attribution of points will be calculated in this circumstance at 100%. Valentino Fusco leads the F1 ranking with 4953 points, ahead of Lorenzo Tappa (4675), Luigi Pizzuti (4593), Davide Campione (4487), Riccardo Irrera (3782) and Andrea Alberti (3712) for the top six positions.
