A stroll along Corso Italia, an ice cream in Boccadasse and a focaccia dipped in cappuccino, as per the ancient Genoese tradition. Josep Martinez released a video interview with the Spanish journalist Ana Quiles Boix: «I feel really good at Genoa, I’m in my second year. Genoa is a very beautiful city, the people are very passionate about football. They tell me that I’m good and friendly because I stop to talk to everyone, from children to adults: from them I learned Italian in four or five months, a language not so far from Valencian.”

The Genoa goalkeeper retraces his turning point, the match at San Nicola against Bari played with a very high fever which saw him protagonist of a wonderful save on Salcedo: «I have a bitter memory of the match because I came from a personal situation difficult with the team and a shoulder injury that stopped me for three weeks. I waited for my moment and that intervention came in the ninetieth minute: all I thought about was the referee’s final whistle and going to sleep because I felt terrible.”

Martinez concludes by thinking about the role he plays and his personality which he does not hide, on and off the pitch: «The goalkeeper has a different character and pressure, one of our mistakes can be seen a lot because we have more responsibility. Defeat is a step towards success, I would tell the child in me to never give up because the journey will be very beautiful.”
