This year too, the Quartu Library System is taking part in the national event ‘May of books 2024’ with specific meetings with children and young people from the city’s schools.
“Paths of freedom: a journey between pages and nature” is the creative ecological reading aloud workshop scheduled at the Flumini Library on Monday 29 April 2024 at 9.00, with the nursery classes sections E/F of the school in via dei Nasturzi, the Istituto Comprensivo n. 6 which joined the ‘Pact for reading’ of Quartu Sant’Elena.
This will be followed by a participatory workshop for the creation of an EcoKamishibai, where knowledge, words in freedom, dreams and nature come together in a shared and engaging naturalistic creative experience!
In harmony with the theme of May of books 2024 “If you read you free yourself”, the illustrated books will be read:
“The freedom of the octopus” by Maile Meloy, with illustrations by Felicita Sala – Terre di mezzo, 2021 – Reading age 3/5 years
An octopus lives happily in its cave until it is caught and locked in an aquarium. A transparent tub, however, is not the right place for those who like to hide, there is too little space, life is truly boring! The octopus misses his freedom, he tries to protest but no one understands him. And so, one night, he decides to find his own way back home.

“Where are you? Arianna had disappeared and no one could find her.” The little girl, on the other hand, is safe, in a secret place, in the company of a Strange Animal with whom she shares the wild life in the park: a bed made of leaves, a dress made of feathers and days spent collecting lost objects on the ground. “Where are you? In short, hurry up, we have to go out” is the call that brings Arianna back to the daily life of her bedroom, making her put aside her reckless adventures drawn by her tangible imagination.
