Piloted procurement: four under investigation at the local health authority. Two from central Abruzzo

Four suspects in the new line of investigation into ASL1 which is being carried out by the public prosecutor’s office of L’Aquila. Among them are two officials from Centro Abruzzo, one from Castel di Sangro and one from Sulmona, accused of having received favors for an association linked to one of the two suspects and cutting grass in their home garden, in exchange for a preferential lane in the awarding of maintenance work on ASL properties in the province. Also involved in the investigation was a company from Castel di Sangro, the one that allegedly received the favors of the officials by obtaining split contracts with the excuse of high urgency, where instead the costs of the works would have required a tender. In exchange, in addition to the company’s services, the suspects also obtained Christmas gifts, evidently of a higher value than those considered courtesy. In the same investigation, another line of investigation concerns the maintenance and updating of the inventory of the ASL’s movable assets: the two officials would have directly awarded the interventions to another company, while at the same time using the latter’s staff for the activities of the private association of which one of the officials is vice president.
