Naples, in San Giovanni the sea is once again swimmable: «Now land reclamation»

The data must be confirmed later, but it testifies to the extent of the ongoing activity in terms of purification”. Manfredi now he will draft an ordinance with which he will establish how and where he can dive. Waiting for the sewer work to be finished to restore the former purifier and for the cliff to be reinforced.

There is still a lot to do regarding both the sea and land reclamation. On the first point we need to give a tourist port to that area Vigliena remains a big option. A work that began 18 months ago when 35 million were recovered thanks to the agreement signed between the Municipality and Sogesid – a company of the Ministry of the Environment – for the safety and to begin the reclamation of what, like Bagnoli, is a Sin – Site of national interest – for 26 years and the beauty of 830 hectares: triple the former Italsider area of ​​249 hectares. 35 million have been recovered out of the 158 available that Sogesid itself had revoked due to “the inertia of the various successive administrations”. There are 13 interventions to be carried out – the tenders are being defined – with the 35 million, we start with making it safe and groundwater reclamation. And we will get involved 283 former industrial warehouses for which a characterization plan is envisaged. And which are fully included in the urban regeneration plan E to former tobacco factory where Agritech will be installed. Sin is divided into 4 macro areas: the oil hub, Gianturco, Pazzigno and the coastal strip. And pollution both on the ground and in the groundwater is very high.

Pollution, as far as soil is concerned, unfortunately «is superficial and deep and is characterized by both metals and pollutants such as mercury, lead, zinc, chromium and much more. As far as the groundwater is concerned, “widespread and marked contamination of carcinogenic compounds and high concentrations of iron and manganese have been highlighted throughout the Sin”. In short, 26 years of nothing have passed, but 2024 could mark the beginning of a new era.
