We pedal in nature – Municipality of Imola

The Intermunicipal CEAS of the Imola area in collaboration with the Intermunicipal CEAS of Romagna Faentina and the Valleys and Rivers of Argenta, which have long been committed to spreading the concept and practices of Sustainability, have developed an integrated sustainable tourism project which envisages, as a central action, the construction of an integrated calendar of cycle tourism visits.

The project financed by the Regional Thematic Center for Sustainability Education of Arpae intends to stimulate “good practices” of conscious and low-impact tourism, which in the territory of competence of the Romagna CEAS has been, in fact, declined through the organization of easy and suitable cycle excursions to everyone.

The cycle paths and cycle-pedestrian paths created and under construction in the territories under the competence of the CEAS will be affected, in particular those that touch areas and sites of environmental and landscape interest (parks and nature reserves, protected landscapes, geosites) and of historical interest -artistic (historic centres, mills and ancient reclamation artefacts).

The scheduled events will concern: the Santerno cycle path between Imola and the Codrignano dam with a stop at the Zerina regional nursery, the Quadrone natural oasis in Medicina with a stop at the Cavicchio educational farm and a visit to the radio telescope, the Naviglio Zanelli canal between Faenza , Cotignola and Bagnacavallo, and various itineraries between Argenta, Comacchio, Mesola and Portomaggiore to discover the valleys, history and nature of the Po Delta Park.

The first cycle excursion in the Imola area – The first cycle excursion in the Imolese district, in collaboration with the Municipality of Imola, is scheduled for Sunday 12 May with departure at 9.30 from the Sante Zennaro car park and will develop along the Santerno cycle path to reach the Codrignano dam, where we will stop for a visit to the “intake” of the Canale dei Mulini. The next stop will be at the Zerina Regional Nursery where we will stop for a packed lunch and where, in the afternoon, “botanical” themed activities will be organized assisted by the experts of the CEAS Imolese District and the illustrator Agnese Baruzzi.

In the Medicina area the cycle excursion, in collaboration with the Municipality of Medicina, will take place on Sunday 2 June with departure at 9.00 from the Quadrone Oasis Visitor Center for a guided tour of the oasis, continuing through routes in the countryside medicinese until reaching the Radio Telescope, where researchers from the radio astronomy station will accompany you on a visit to the antennas. This will be followed by a stop for lunch at the Aia Cavicchio Educational Farm (packed or at the farm’s refreshment point) and in the afternoon it will be possible to complete the visit to the Radio Telescope at the “Marcello Ceccarelli” Visitor Center.
