Walking in nature is one of better medicines that can be administered. Without contraindications.
The woods, in particular, develop monoterpenes and phytoncides, volatile aromatic substances and essential oils that stimulate the immune defenses, lower blood pressure and heart rate, reduce stress and depression.
This is how our guide book was born to get to know the Veneto area and at the same time feel good about yourself and your body by immersing yourself in breathtaking views and landscapes: “Wellness walks in Veneto”.
Studies on the benefits of nature
Already in 1982 a scientific study led the State Forestry Authority of Japan to promote the practice of Shinrin-yoku, the forest bathing as a recognized method for the prevention and treatment of diseases, today subsidized by the national health system.
And not just me Woods are therapeutic. Even walking at high altitude, in front of a grandiose panorama, is: the mountain air oxygenates the body and mind. On the seashore, the benefits arise from the positive endorphins generated by the beneficial power of iodine, a natural thalassotherapy.
Question of breathing
In every environment, the key is breathing: we now breathe distractedly, while we need to get back into alignment breathing and thinkingstep by step taking the rhythm of slow time to find serenity and balance.
The good news is that you don’t have to travel all the way to distant Japan: Veneto lends itself magnificently to forest bathing thanks to the variety of its natural environments, from the maritime pines of the coast to the olive trees of the large lakes, from the oaks and chestnut trees of the hills to the fir forests of the Dolomites.
Our Book
Here I am routes proposed in this volume, “Wellness Walks in Veneto”, how beneficial immersions in nature will have a positive impact on physical well-being, especially for:
– reduce the production of cortisol (stress hormone) and cholesterol
– regularize the heartbeat
– reduce blood pressure
– reduce the amount of sugar in the blood
– strengthen immune defenses
– improve depressive states and weaken anger
– increase energy and stimulate creativity.
All the routes are recommended from May to late October, but the seaside and hilly ones can also be used in winter; they wind through forests, woods, olive groves and uncontaminated landscapes, one slowtrek which becomes a elixir of well-being to be enjoyed at a slow pace, to rediscover serenity and inner harmony.
The objective is to reopen a centuries-old but now forgotten dialogue, awakening mutual awareness interaction between all living things.
