The Carnival of Sant’Eraclio will also pay homage to the Giro d’Italia. On the occasion of the seventh stage of the pink race, the Foligno-Perugia individual time trial scheduled for Friday 10 May, the association led by president Fabio Bonifazi will exhibit two of its original allegorical papier-mâché creations: the “Steampunk Fantasy” float and the ” Fantasy Bicycle”. The works will be exhibited at 9am on Friday 10 May in the starting area of the Giro d’Italia, located in the Plateatico car park.
The first of the two artistic works, the “Steampunk Fantasy” tank created by the “Flash Back” shipyard, features a grandiose helicopter and a pilot with the appearance of a boiler. Appendix of the float is the “Fantasy Bicycle”, created by the artist Roberto Mosconi, which represents a modern “Pythagorean Archimedes” also belonging to the “Flash Back” construction site of the Children’s Carnival of Sant’Eraclio. “It is – explains Mosconi – the first battery-powered electric tricycle made up of some barrels where hot steam is produced which, channeled, allows a grandiose and picturesque hot air balloon to hover in the air. A golden bird is then positioned on top of the creation which represents free flight.” Both works hark back to the Victorian era, which praises the achievements of the steam engine.
“Once again the carnival event of Sant’Eraclio – underlines President Bonifazi – makes its genius, imagination and craftsmanship available to the city of Foligno, having already collaborated in the past with the events of I Primi d’Italia and Segni Baroque”. The board of directors of the Agricultural Community of Sant’Eraclio assists the Carnival of Sant’Eraclio in this initiative.
