Enveloped by the wild cheering at the Palazzetto Dello Sport in Latisana, the Friulians achieved a historic promotion to A1!!
Talmassons mercilessly closed game 2 with a second clean 3 to 0. The result of the three partials was 31 to 29, 25 to 20 and 25 to 17. Since Serie A1 and Serie A2 have existed, it is the first time that a Friulian club has reached the highest category. “A surprising but well-deserved success” commented the president of the women’s Serie A Volleyball league Mauro Fabris
The match
The Friulians played an almost perfect match, forcing the teams to work hard to put the ball on the ground.
Leonardo Barbieri lined up the same sextet as the first leg with Eze Blessing opposite Piomboni, Eckl/Costantini as a central pair, Populini/Hardeneman in the pack and Negretti libero. Alessandro Beltrami, still without Conceicao, fielded a different line-up from game 1 with Monza directing diagonally with Zanette, Furlan/Rebora in the centre, Pomili/Cvetnic in the forward line and Bonvicini libero.
The first part was very hard fought, the bustots tried but after a long point by point the Friulians won 31 to 29. The second part was also initially fought with Futura trying to keep up. Then CDA Talmassons accelerated and closed 25 to 20. In the third period Futura was unable to react and suffered the game of the Friulians. In the end, Leah Hardeman put the ball down to make it 25-17, opened the celebrations and captain Beatrice Negretti raised the trophy.
Chidera Blessing Eze was the best on the pitch in the Finals, her distribution and above all her calm in the moments that determined the match were decisive.
