Evaluate the opportunity to arrange an administrative inspection on
urban planning, social services and urban police sectors of the Municipality of Agrigento. This is the request that the PD parliamentary group made following the investigation that led to the arrest of the municipal police commander and head of cabinet of the mayor of the city of Temples. Gaetano Di Giovanni, meanwhile, left the Pagliarelli prison in Palemo after the investigating judge of the Court accepted the request of the lawyers of the official accused of corruption in the investigation into the Nido D’Argento cooperative in Partinico. At the time of the events contested by the magistrates and relating to 2021, Di Giovanni was manager of the social-healthcare district of Agrigento. For the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party it is necessary to clarify in relation to the investigation by the Palermo prosecutor’s office which involved the chief of staff of the mayor of the municipality of Agrigento as well as the commander of the local police, deputy general secretary and president of the Urega tender, but also in relation to the other investigation carried out by the Catania prosecutor’s office, which does not directly concern acts of the municipality of
Agrigento, but it concerns managers linked by a consultancy relationship with the municipality, opens up disturbing scenarios. This is the “Pandora” investigation in which the magistrates are prosecuting the crimes of voting, political-mafia exchange, corruption, extortion and disruption of contracts. Events which concern the municipality of Tremestieri Etneo but involve, in addition to the vice-president of the Sicilian Region Luca Sammartino, also the engineers from Catania Paolo Di Loreto and Maurizio Erbicella who in the two years have carried out important roles in the municipality of Agrigento: super consultant for urban planning and the general master plan is the first; responsible for drafting the SEA (Strategic Environmental Assessment) of the municipal territory, for the implementation of the provisions contained in the PRG, the second.
Investigations which, for the PD group at the Ars, open up unpredictable scenarios and which, in consideration of the role and activities carried out by the suspects, cast a long shadow on entire sectors of the administrative activity of the municipality of Agrigento. The President of the Region is therefore asked to evaluate the opportunity to prepare an administrative inspection on the sectors of urban planning, social services and urban police where the three suspects Gaetano Di Giovanni and the engineers Paolo di Loreto and Maurizio Erbicella have provided their activity in recent years.
