AVEZZANO -“The normal political dialectic between the majority and the opposition is fine, but you cannot make completely unfounded statements or convey distorted messages: I say to my colleague Mariani that there is no risk of the Abruzzo health system being placed under commissionership, and if there is some deficit in the local health authorities, this is mainly due to the investments made for new technologies and personnel”.

This is the peremptory reply of the group leader in the regional council of the Brothers of Italy, from Avezzano Massimo Verrecchiaas stated, also in this case in an interview with Abruzzoweb, by the councilor of the Democratic Party, Sandro Mariani, according to which the Abruzzo healthcare system risks returning to the commissioner system, from which it left in 2016, at the cost of enormous sacrifices and lesina policies, due to a deficit that would exceed 120 million euros, based on an analysis carried out independently on the accounts of the four local health authorities.

“In the regional council -, continues Verrecchia -, we appealed to the opposition, hoping for a constructive attitude, committing ourselves to also take their proposals and criticisms seriously. But disinformation certainly does not mean going in this direction. And it’s not even true that President Marsilio insulted minorities in the last council meeting. There are the documents, the recordings of the session, to prove it.”

Broadening our gaze, Verrecchia, re-elected for a second term with 7,761 votes, states, “on 10 March we obtained a historic result, because it had never happened that an outgoing majority was reconfirmed. This will guarantee continuity in the administration, will allow us to implement strong and determined action to carry forward all the projects already started in the previous legislature, and to carry out even others. The priority will be with regards to healthcare itself, the reduction of waiting lists, and already the councilor Nicoletta Verì indicated the guidelines to the local health authorities, which also include the extension of diagnostic hours, and then the creation of new hospitals, the hospital network and the local health network”.

And then obviously there are the infrastructures: “starting with the speeding up of the Pescara-Rome railway – continues the group leader -. There has just been a public debate on three more lots, after the two lots already put up for tender. And the good news is that RFI has finally opened up, in terms of costs and benefits, the railway connection between L’Aquila and Carsoli or Tagliacozzo, in any case the connection with the Pescara-Rome line. One thing is certain: we were accused of having lost the resources for this fundamental infrastructure, and instead with the Cipess financing we were guaranteed, we will also have one billion in FSC funds, a figure never granted to our region. The commitment for the third lane of the A14 is also maximum”.

Verrecchia concludes, regarding the clashes over the composition of the junta: “the majority is moving forward, there has been no sign of surrender, but a normal dialectic. It is completely legitimate that there are expectations on the part of individual councilors and parties. But we have reached such a maturity that allows us to be united, so as not to betray the mandate that the voters gave us and which fills us with responsibility”.
