the amaranth group was the weakest Il Tirreno

Livorno Promotion verdicts already issued in 6 of the nine groups of the 2023/24 Serie D tournament. In fact, Alcione Milano (group A), Union Clodiense Chioggia (C), Cavese (G), Altamura (H) have already toasted promotion to Serie C and Trapani (I). However, it remains to be decided who will win, in addition to group E, that of Livorno, groups B, D (the other with the Tuscans) and F.

Who has already won

The first team to get the ticket for the profs was Trapani, which literally dominated group I, an anomalous grouping because it was made up of 18 teams to which La Fenice Amaranto (i.e. Reggina) was then added but which after a few days he returned to 18 for the withdrawal of Lamezia Terme. Trapani, however, was not affected: out of 32 matches, they won 28 and drew 4, remaining undefeated with two rounds to go. 88 points combined.

Another group that finished early is C, where Union Clodiense Chioggia (great-grandson of ClodiaSottomarina already in Serie C in the seventies) dominated from the start and even had a 15 point advantage over the second group. The lagoon players have put together 24 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats and currently have 76 points, with the aim of reaching at least 80. With the current 72 points, the result of 22 wins, 6 draws and 4 defeats, Cavese ( promoted arithmetically almost a month ago) dominated group G. +15 over second-placed Ischia and +16 over the most fearsome rival on the eve: Nocerina.

Group H is more balanced where Altamura only opened the sparkling wine last Sunday. The Apulian red and whites, however, have been in command continuously since the 10th day, with a score of 21 successes, 8 draws and 3 defeats which have brought them 71 points (+7 on Martina, second).

In group A, with 20 teams, last Sunday came the mathematical promotion to C for the first time of Alcione Milano, an ambitious club that had already been trying to make the leap to the professional ranks for a couple of seasons. The Milanese took the top spot on the 5th day and never gave it up again, overcoming the resistance of the tenacious Chisola only on the 36th day. The 78 points are the result of 23 wins and 9 draws, with only 4 setbacks.

The groups still in the balance. In group D Carpi is first with 64, +4 over Ravenna. A success on Sunday in Imola would mark the return of the Emilians to Serie C after three seasons of absence. This group saw the exit of Pistoiese a few weeks ago, and was one of the most balanced together with group F, where however Campobasso was at the top practically from the start. The Molise team have 66 points and are first practically from the start, but they have to deal with L’Aquila, which can also count on an important crowd and which, thanks to 5 consecutive victories, has moved to -2.

The big disappointment of this grouping is the Sambenedettese. The situation is even more uncertain in group B (with 20 teams), where the surprising Caldiero Terme is at the top with 71 points, one point more than the renowned Piacenza who were overtaken on two Sundays. Not even Desenzano is left out, third with 68. And we know everything about the group.

The Livorno group, together with group D, is the one in which the leaders currently have the lowest score. This is also proof that the group was probably one of the weakest ever, undoubtedly of a lower level than last season when Arezzo had a superior category team.

With a few exceptions therefore, the big favorites have respected the predictions more or less in all the groups, excluding E where Livorno and Grosseto risk remaining at the post.
