The Bologna Prosecutor’s Office has ordered an autopsy to clarify the causes of the death of a 65-year-old woman, who died in recent days at the Bellaria hospital due to a series of complications following an operation in October at Sant’Orsola. The task was entrusted by prosecutor Michela Guidi to the medical examiner Matteo Tudini who will carry out the examination on her body in the next few hours. The case, for manslaughter against unknown persons, was opened after a complaint from the family members, assisted by the lawyer Chiara Rinaldi, who appointed Donatella Fedeli as party consultant to participate in the technical assessment. At the end of October, when she was in excellent health, the 65-year-old underwent surgery to remove a cyst in her ear canal at Sant’Orsola and from then on her situation became more complicated. Following a fall in December, hydrocephalus was discovered and then a brain infection, which is why she underwent surgery several times at the Bellaria hospital. After six months of agony she died and now her family is asking to evaluate the behavior of the doctors who treated the patient, evaluating imprudence and negligence and seizing the clinical documentation.
