Brescia to read, to discover its history

Presented at Palazzo Loggia, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May returns for the third edition of «Brescia daread», a widespread literary festival dedicated to the Brescia scene promoted by the «Brescia si legge» association and the libraries of the Municipality of Brescia. Expected 38 meetings over the two days in 15 different places in the city including libraries, bookshops or outdoor spaces. All meetings are free to attend, the three traveling presentations on Sunday morning are free but require reservations (details and program on the website www.bresciasilegge.it).

Among the matches on Saturday certainly worth mentioning Ilaria Dondi (5.30 pm) and her ‘Libere. To choose whether and how to have children (Einaudi) at the Porto delle Culture social library, Tita Prestini (5.30pm Libreria Ferrata) with his latest historical mystery, the historian Mimmo Franzinelli (6pm, Nuova Libreria Rinascita) to talk about military internees and the ‘Slaves of Hitler’, Filippo Ronca (6pm, Punto Einaudi) with his debut novel ‘It seems that I will soon drown’, published by Mondadori.

On Sunday, in addition to the traveling presentations, in Queriniana (3.30 pm) Andrea Caccaveri, Piero Galli and Alberto Fossadri present ‘The great battle of Brescia in 1401’ while at the Ulisse cultural association in Vicolo Borgondio Michele Piccardi (4pm) presents ‘In quattro è una banda. We wanted to change the world. And we were right.’

«Ours is a province full of stories that concern us closely and which we believe is important to bring to the knowledge of as many people as possible – he explains Andrea Franzoni, president of the Brescia cultural association we read —. Our festival has reached its third edition, growing a lot, but trying to remain faithful to this principle: that the stories linked to our province, which really happened as well as the fruit of the creativity of those who live there, are a common good, something that can help us better understand what surrounds us and, why not, to be more aware and active citizens. For this reason, this year too our festival does not focus on the big names of the Italian literary jet set but on awriters and authors linked to our province, proposing a good mix between those who have already managed to break the glass ceiling by attracting the attention of national publishers, and those who instead propose publications of local interest but unique, and therefore of great value”.
