Venice paid starting from 25 April 2024: the trial of the entrance ticket, announced months ago, began on Thursday. Over 100 thousand people reached the city by mid-morning: of these, 8 thousand paid the 5 euro ticket to access the historic center while all the others are Venetian citizens, students, workers or people staying in hotels who therefore already pay the tourist tax and are not required to purchase the entry voucher. As Sky Tg24 underlines, these only need to register on the online platform.

The numbers of entrances to Venice on the first day of testing the entrance ticket they were announced by the councilors for Budget and Tourism, Michele Zuin and Simone Venturini. Zuini explained: “Everything is going well, at least we think so, no one complained and almost everyone was informed.” For Venturini “you have to try to change and to do so you have to take risks, appear unpopular and lose votes, but if you don’t try anything, if you don’t have the courage to act, you won’t go anywhere”. In the morning, given the high number of people who reached the city, the gazebo for paymentlocated outside the train station, was taken by storm: long queues and many people waiting, with some being a little surprised.

Entrance ticket to Venice, the mayor: “We want to preserve the city”

The mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnarowho strongly wanted to introduce the Entrance ticket to Venice to enter the historic center of the cityin front of the station declared: “Nothing has ever been done to regulate tourism, politics doesn’t do it because it has no interest in doing so. I did it”. The mayor then apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that “we are doing it because we have the duty and task of leaving and preserving the city for future generations”. Although the experimentation has only just begun, it seems that citizens and tourists have already understood how the system works: many showed up at the gazebo waving the QR Code, as underlined again by the mayor, as reported by Sky Tg24.

That of April 25, 2024 a Venice it is a special day, not only for the Liberation Day: on this date San Marco, patron saint of the city, is celebrated. Traditionally, husbands and boyfriends, but also children, give women who are special to them a rosebud, to remember the sad but romantic story of Tancredi and Vulcania. Just to celebrate Saint Mark tens of thousands of people reached the Serenissima, forcing the florists scattered around the historic center to work overtime.
