Rimini: violence against ex, 44-year-old former professional footballer arrested

A 44-year-old former professional Serie C footballer was arrested on Wednesday by the police on charges of persecution, aggravated bodily harm, battery, threats, trespass and damage to his ex-girlfriend. The man, defended by the lawyer Gianandrea Pazzini, was taken to prison in execution of a precautionary measure order issued by the investigating judge Vinicio Cantarini, following the investigations coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Luca Bertuzzi.

The story of violence and harassment towards his ex-partner is aggravated by a disconcerting detail: the 44-year-old would have been seen by several customers and the owner slapping the woman also at Kiosko Vincanto, the venue in Villa Verucchio destroyed in a fire the night between April 14th and 15th. On that occasion, the manager, the singer-songwriter Filippo Malatesta, had defended the victim and had been threatened by the man with very explicit phrases about the place. At the moment, there is no concrete evidence directly linking the arrest with the arson of the premises, but the hypothesis of a link remains under investigation by the investigators.

Investigations into the fire are still underway by the investigative unit of the Bologna fire brigade and the Villa Verucchio carabinieri.
